I couldn’t help myself!

We had some good friends over this morning. Mum was one of my bridesmaids (many moons ago…) and we’ve both since added 2 kids each to the mixture. Apart from my own children, of course, they would have to be the most gorgeous children ever. The daughter actually features on my website:

We’ve been trying to arrange a session with her son since he was born (he’s now 4 months old) and hadn’t quite managed, so I whipped the camera out while they were here and got some shots for her. Seriously - it would have to be the quickest, easiest session ever!  :)  He was such a darling.  And I’m adoring the photos so much I had to process a few and blog them so mum can see, even though I should be working on the pile I have waiting for me already…. (such is life)….
I hope you love them J, as much as I do.  Oh, gosh, he’s just so gorgeous - you lucky mama, you.  :)

I love Sundays.

And I love sunny Sundays. Yesterday was perfect. And what better way to top it off than a session with the gorgeous Ame (a dutch name pronounced ah-may - wish I knew how to add the emphasis symbol above the e for her). Her parents are from the Netherlands, having been here in Melbourne for a couple of years now. Long enough to not be surprised by our weather, and the fact that while it was perfect yesterday it is currently black as coal out and pouring with rain. We certainly chose the day well, Lian.
I had a lovely afternoon.  Ame had just turned one, which is a beautiful age, and it is always a joy (and an honour) to be asked to capture them at this stage in their lives.  They’re often quite mobile too at this age, which adds that little bit of a challenge to the task.  :)
Anyway, enough yakking from me - here’s your little sneak peak mum and dad.

Look at those baby blues - she’s just adorable!

Playing peek-a-boo in the back yard.  We see you.  :)

And it would be a crime to live as close to the beach as they do and not head down there for a few photographs (and a bit of fun).

And I had to include this one becuase I just loved the interaction between mum and her little girl. How very precious.

Thanks for a wonderful afternoon guys.  Hope you’ve enjoyed your little peek. I can’t wait to share the rest with you.

(Oh, and I forgot to give a big shout out to this girl for my brand new profile pic. Thankyou so much, Kristen!)

Forgive my tardiness.

I know it’s only been 5 days since I’ve posted, but it feels like forever.
I’ve been battling a chest infection, as has Jaedon.
And Sunday afternoon Alicia-Rae came down with conjunctivitis and has had a fever (40/104) the last two days.  :(
This is her curled up on Nanna’s lap this morning, fast asleep. Both Matt and I are jealous in that she’s never fallen asleep on either of our laps - she’s one of those children that will only ever fall asleep in bed. I guess that’s an indication of how poor she is feeling.

I don’t like it when my babies are sick.  :(
And it’s even tougher to deal with when I’m not 100% myself.
So forgive me if you’re waiting on an email, or a phone call, or just a fresh post.  At least I’ve got one down now.  :)

Friday’s Child

I didn’t actually find out what day she was born on (so she could be a Wednesday’s child, or a Monday’s child…you get the gist), but this is how I spent Friday morning - photographing beautiful Miss N. So, to me, she’s Friday’s child.  :)
Thanks for being patient with me mum and dad. Newborn sessions can be over in an hour, or can last just over three (like this one). But it was definately time well spent.
Your daughter is such a sweet, precious little girl. And so beautiful (but you already know these things).  I hope you feel my work does her justice.
Here are just a few from the session to tide you over.

More to come soon.

“Life is partly what we make it, and partly what it is made by the friends we choose.”

The above quote is by Tennessee Williams, and oh so true. It reminds me of a friend I have. Well, I guess you’d call her a friend - I’ve never actually met her. But she is one of the kindest, sweetest souls I have come across, and I found her right here http://www.flickr.com/people/11832768@N04/ (sorry - I thought I knew how to add a hyperlinks correctly, but apparently not….).
I’m a bit of a flickr-ite myself, and have been hugely inspired by Mistybliss’ photography (make sure you check out her stream if you click on the above link).  She somehow manages to capture the very soul of her children in her images, and has a very unique and beautiful style.  And they always come across as so much more than photographs - there’s a story and a feeling behind each and every one.  And a beautiful person as well.  She has always been very supportive and encouraging towards me, not ever having met me. She has a very simple trust and openess that is so rare these days.
Anyways - in our mail this morning we received a package from her. A beautifully handknitted bonnet for our daughter Alicia-Rae. I have been admiring her creations for a long while now, as they often pop up in her flickr stream, so it made my day (even week) to have one of my very own. Well, Alicia-Rae’s very own…  ;-)
It really is a treasured gift, especially when I consider how she managed to find time between keeping a house and raising 6 kids to think of us, and then put those thoughts into action. She certainly does me to shame.  :)
I asked if she minded if I share a few pics on here, and she said not at all. So here they are, modelled of course by the temporary owner of the said bonnet.  lol

Once again, thank you sooooo much ‘Mistybliss’ - it really is a treasure.

Sneak Peak for the C Family.

I have to say I’ve had a blast editing these photos so far. Almost as much fun as I had at the session.  Your little girl is the sweetest thing ever, and it’s been a treat seeing her personality coming out in the shots.
And of course you guys aren’t too hard on the eyes either. I’m loving your together shots!  I’m going to try a few different effects with them for you, and might even throw in an odd texture or two.  :)
It was so hard to decide which pics to edit first and put up here for you, but I hope these give you a taste of things to come.

Oh - I’ve changed my mind too - I wasn’t going to add this one because it’s a tad out of focus, but it makes me smile the biggest smile every time I look at it. So I just had to share. Hope you enjoy.  :)

Our daughter, the ham.

As a treat, as much for us as for the kids, we decided to go to Hungry Jacks for dinner last night.  I’m sure there are probably a lot more ‘nutriciously friendly’ places we could have taken them, but they just don’t have the same sense of fun and ‘naughtiness’ that a fast-food joint has.  :)
We did put our sensible-parent caps on for long enough to feed Alicia-Rae before we went, so it was just mummy, daddy and Jaedon eating. But we caved in the end and let our little lady munch on some chips so she didn’t feel left out. And our course I had to take some photos.
So I just had to share her in all her animated cuteness. She is such a character, and is becoming more so each day. She’s so much fun to be around.

I’m christening the new blog with a preview.

Yep, I’m very excited to have my new blog up.  And what better way to kick it off than with a sneak peak from my most recent session.
What a lovely family they are. I spent a bit longer there than I usually do - time just got away.  It was so nice to feel as relaxed as I was while ‘on the job’. Thank you guys.  And thanks Nanny for the biscuit.  I have a feeling I’ll be trying my own hand at them soon enough.

Hope you enjoy your little preview H & D. There’s many more to come. I can’t wait to share them all with you.  :)
