JOLIE & ALEX | PART TWO

It wasn’t our intention to have two parts to Alex and Jolie’s engagement session. Even knowing Melbourne’s reputation for Four Seasons in One Day didn’t have us prepared for spending a good forty five minutes cornered into a gazebo waiting out the torrential rain. Eventually we conceded defeat, made a mad dash to our cars, and decided to meet back up when we could to finish their portraits.  They had their hearts set on a beach sunset shoot, and that’s what I wanted to give them. Mother Nature was not going to defeat me.

Last week we finally had our victory.  We all met up again, and despite a few threats of rain (and the shaking of fists at the sky that followed) the evening was perfect. And I mean perfect in every way I can.  I walked away from this brief session with a big smile on my face, a rather tigger-ey bounce in my step, and a heart that was happy as could be. Couples in love do that to me. As do couples in love that trust me to capture who they are. Put them together and you have a smiley, tigger-ey, happy me.

I love that about engagement sessions. I love that I get to spend some time with my couples before their big day.  I love that we get to hang out, share some time, and open our hearts a little.  They show me theirs, and through my camera I show them mine. By the time their wedding arrives I feel like I’m catching up with friends.  That’s why I’m looking forward to the day in May I get to spend with Jolie and Alex, continuing on from where we left off. And I have no doubt that day will be perfect as well. I can’t wait.
