ONE DAY IN ADELAIDE NOT SO LONG AGO

I was about to start this post by talking about a little competition I held a few weeks ago, and then I realised it was nearly four months ago that I offered to fly anywhere in Australia to photograph the family of one of my fellow photographers (all they had to do was show me the most impressive collection of orange joyfullness they could find and collect it all in one place – ie Pinterest – for me to drool over). The reason I limited the competition to photographers is we very rarely get photographs of our own little families, all together in one place anyway, despite spending half of our lives behind the camera. And for all the work so many people out there put into capturing the moments of others’ lives, they deserve to have the same done for them. And so I offered, and was blown away by the response, and all the wonderful orangeness flooding my pinterest stream. It was bliss.
I had such a hard time choosing between all the entries, and could only ever narrow it down to two women. Both for the huge effort they put into it, and for the stories of love for the people that surround them each day.
Today I’m featuring one of the winners – Bridgette from Fresh Imagery in Adelaide.

From the moment I stepped off the plane, and was greeted with a very welcome coffee, I was made to feel like I had known Bridgette half my life. I hadn’t actually met her before but felt perfectly at home with her, and we chatted easily and non stop all the way to the Barossa Valley where we were going to whip out the camera. The poor boys were lucky to get a word in edgewise. In fact I was so well looked after, and treated to such a deliciously wonderful lunch at a local winery, that I felt like I was the winner!

Bridgette – you are a beautiful, blessed woman. And you have the most wonderful, adorable little family. And if I lived any closer I’d be visiting on a much more regular basis.
Thank you so much for allowing me to be part of your lives for a day, for being open, and real, and just plain fun to be around. And I still can’t believe you look that amazing so soon after birthing your daughter. Go you!
I had a fantastic time with you all – I hope it was as fun for you guys, and that these images will mean as much to you as it did for me to be able to take them.

Much love, Narrelle x
