366 pieces of life | Day 350

Only 16 days of our 366 project to go - I can’t believe it. I don’t know if I’m sad or relieved about the idea though, to tell you the truth.  I’m looking forward to having a day or two where I dont have to get the camera out (though I probably will anyway - old habits are hard to break…) - but will I worry that I’ll be missing something if I’m not on the ball like I have been for the last 349 days?  Anyway, I still have 2 and a bit more weeks to ponder apon these thoughts… :)

Nanna and Papa are back in town, which Jaedon’s very excited about. He loves his ‘ana and apa’ - both sets.  And this morning he was very lucky and got to sit down and share a coffee (and babycino) with them, and catch up on the last year’s events.  There’s nothing better than good conversation and make believe coffee (and I’m sure some of the conversation was make beleive too, but hey…).

And this would have been a family photo had Jaedon wanted to get out of the car. So instead we settled for Alicia-Rae and her daddy. At least she was as excited as us about finally, and legally, having some land to our name.
After 5 weeks of waiting we settled on our block today - what a great feeling.  We are so excited not only about getting to build exactly the kind of house we want, but being able to give the kids some space to run around and let their imaginations run wild.  We’re as much as excited for them as we are for ourselves. Space these days is a real gift indeed. We have been blessed.

366 pieces | Day 345

Life’s great when the only thing you have to do to keep the kids happy is take them for a ride on the train.  :)
It was a bit of a late night last night - I met with some fellow photographers in Melbourne for a bit of a Christmas dinner, followed by a wander down the river by Southbank taking some photos (it’s been a loooooong time since I’ve seen the clock hit 2 in the am stage of it’s travels…).  Needless to say I was a bit bleary-eyed this morning and figured it was probably best to get me and the little ones out of the house and go on a bit of an adventure.  This translated as catching the train into the city to pick up a spare battery (finally) for the new camera.
Jaedon was in his element as always, even wearing one of his Thomas t-shirts to complete the experience.  I can’t get over how ‘old’ he looks in this photo though - not so much like my little baby anymore.

And we have waited a long time for this shot of Alicia-Rae.  Unlike her brother she hasn’t become attached to any toys/dolls/blankets etc,.  We’ve diligently put Piglet to bed with her every night (and every nap) for the last 12 months or so, only to find the poor pink pig stuffed through the bars and laying in a lonely heap on the floor whenever we go back in. Being as independant as she is it hasn’t really surprised us.  But today she hasn’t let go of him - in fact she’s been smothering him with the cuddles of a long lost friend all day.  It’s been sooo sweet!  It’s funny that something so ‘insignificant’ would have me so happy.  :)

And here’s an ‘out-take’ which I just had to share - she just makes my heart melt looking at her. I can’t wait to see the beautiful young woman she becomes.

And one more photo to leave you with, taken during our travels last night.  I LOVE Melbourne at night - it’s such a beautiful city.

We are family…

Everyone’s heard the old addage about a cobbler’s family having no shoes - well it’s pretty much the same with photographers.  I personally have very few photographs of my family all in the one frame. Individually, it’s another story.  :)
Fortunately the same priciple doesn’t apply to extended family.  My two nieces and nephew are very familiar with my camera - I don’t think they’ve ever seen me without it.  And this weekend we all finally had few hours free to do a family shoot for them.
I think it was actually easier to get the dog to look at the camera than all three of the kids at one time, but we had fun trying. In the end I think I prefer the shots where they were doing their own thing anyway.  They were certainly being themselves.
I just love this first one, perhaps my favourite from the day.  I’m thinking of getting it enlarged myself.  :)

I love the wall in this photo. And I love the kids expressions. So not interested, LOL.

I know we didn’t have much time guys, but I think we did well.  :)

Friday’s Child

I didn’t actually find out what day she was born on (so she could be a Wednesday’s child, or a Monday’s child…you get the gist), but this is how I spent Friday morning - photographing beautiful Miss N. So, to me, she’s Friday’s child.  :)
Thanks for being patient with me mum and dad. Newborn sessions can be over in an hour, or can last just over three (like this one). But it was definately time well spent.
Your daughter is such a sweet, precious little girl. And so beautiful (but you already know these things).  I hope you feel my work does her justice.
Here are just a few from the session to tide you over.

More to come soon.
