I miss those everyday moments

Call me crazy, but lately I’ve been missing the project I set myself last year, of taking a photograph a day of both of our children.  It was a lot of work, and I put a lot of pressure on myself to keep it up, but I miss capturing that daily glimpse into their lives.
I’ve been thinking of perhaps starting it up again. Not for a year this time (not from the outset anyway) and not religiously every day, but as close as I can to it.  It feels me with joy to see my kids faces fill the screen – to see their beautiful faces looking back at me as I load them up on to my pc. And to know that I’ll always have that small piece of them, and that brief memory, to treasure.  And it keeps that portion of my brain that lives and breathes photography active.
So you may just see some more pics of my tribe popping up – maybe just as a weekly highlight. We’ll see.  But for now, here are two from yesterday.  I even got a brief, albeit cheesy, smile from Jaedon.  That’s got to be worth remembering.

I’m twittering!

Yep. I’ve decided to see what all the fuss is about. I mean, how else do I keep up with how Jon is feeling after breaking up with Jen.  :)

I’m not the most technolically gifted, so I haven’t yet figured out how to integrate it into my blog in a cool, attention grabbing kind of way that makes you look at it and think, ‘Wow – that looks fab!” so for the time being my updates are at the top of the page, in the welcome section.

Go ahead. Follow me. You know you want to.

And just because I can’t post without adding a photo or two, and this will show you just how much I need to add pictures, here are the couple of self-portraits from my 52 Pieces of Me challenge that I’m doing this year, that I’ve missed adding along the way.  You’ll also see one of them as my new provile pic.

Week 10

Week 11

I promise you – I don’t have a love for taking my own photograph. I actually hate seeing my face plastered on the screen here. Or anywhere for that matter.  But it’s been good for me.  It’s teaching me a lot about being comfortable in my own skin, which I’ve never been great at. So if you notice that I haven’t posted any for a few weeks, give me a nudge.  It’s probably just me feeling too silly and embarrased to post them, which is what I’m trying to overcome. And if you have any ideas for a portrait or two, feel free to let me know.  I need all the encouragement I can get to keep going.

366 pieces of life | Day 361 (5 days to go…)

OK – I cheated yesterday and only posted the one photo – but it contained both the kids, and I was too tired to look at anymore.  And now that I have that off my chest…..

Nanna and Papa (Matt’s parents) arrived today for a few days, and our second Christmas celebration. There weren’t as many kids running around today but Jaedon still managed to have a good time. He just loves his Nanna and Pappa. And this time his Uncle also came to visit. All the way from Perth. Just to jump on the trampoline with Jaedon.  :)
The best part was that we got to have a second Christmas dinner. And a second christmas pudding. And Jaedon even got into the spirit of things by wearing his cracker hat. For a few minutes anyway.
I love his expression in this one.  He has a knack sometimes of looking straight into me – even with a big chunk of camera and glass in the way.

And Alicia-Rae is also loving having Nanna and Pappa around. Apart from having extra people to play up to, they love playing with her too, and showering attention on her.
In this shot we’d not long ago been playing ‘hi 5′s’ with Jaedon on the trampoline, when she decided she’d give it a go. Nanna would hold her hand up, we’d say ‘Hi 5′, then she’d run over and hit Nanna’s hand as hard as she could and then run off again before we could catch her. She likes to add an element of mischief to most things she does.
